A few years ago, we were up late talking, Shelva and Andi that is. . . Shelva had just told Andi earlier that evening that she and her husband were expecting their first child; Andi was thrilled. Now, they were up in Andi’s bed, like school girls, giggling into the night.
Shelva rolled over and looked at Andi and said, “I just didn’t think I’d have gray hair AND acne.” “I know!” Andi said. . .
That’s where this blog began. We’re both 36, have been friends for almost 20 years, and still don’t know what it means to be “grown up.” And yes, we have gray hair and acne. . .
This blog is our way of approaching our aging, our lives, our pain, and our joys with some tragedy and a huge dose of humor. We hope it gives you a good laugh, maybe a tear or two, and above all hope. We’re all in this together.
Andi Cumbo – I am a single woman who writes and teaches writing for a living (a meager living but one nonetheless.) Currently, I am working on a book about the slaves from the former plantation on which I now live. I believe that life is 1/2 faith, 2/5 perseverance, 1/10 laughter, 1/10 tears, and 1/10 moxy. I blog daily at http://www.andilit.com.
Shelva Leep – I am a woman, daughter, wife, mother, friend, and lover of life. I am learning everyday how to “be” on the journey that is my life. I laugh and cry easily and probably do both at inappropriate times. My temper often gets the best of me, and my empathy for others is a blessing and a curse. I have two amazing and spirited toddlers that teach me everyday to open my eyes and see the beauty that is my life.
